Workshop: Fermenting Data Canteen

Call for participation in a workshop being run by Lukas Fuchsgruber (Museums and Society), Magdalena Tyżlik-Carver (Aarhus University) and Lozana Rossenova (Open Science Lab TIB), February 1, 1:30 p.m -5:00 p.m., Berlin

Invitation to participate in the Fermenting Data Canteen at TU Berlin on February 1, 2023 from 1:30 - 5:00 p.m.

The organizers invite artists, designers, data analysts, curators, computer scientists, archivists, and others to collaboratively curate fermenting data. This event follows a “kitchen” workshop organized for the NordiCHI 2022 pre-conference in Aarhus in October 2022. In the canteen edition, participants will continue to experiment with speculative methods for curating data while taking in fermenting bodies. The process of fermentation in different stages is explored by working with different sensors (analog, digital, biological). This results in an attempt to structure sensory data in an open, public database (Wikidata).

In the Fermenting Data collaboration, Lukas Fuchsgruber is working on conceptual mapping. This means, in a practical sense, how linked open data platforms like Wikidata can be understood as an interface for collective thinking – while allowing conflicting positions. This enables an intersection of social media and knowledge graphs, which can be understood as an important technology for digital heritage and the digital commons.

You will find more information on how to register for the workshop here.
